This is the one feature in Harvest where the pastoral decisions matter more than the settings.
Who sees a request
A request posted here is visible to your congregation, not only to leadership. Make sure people know that before they write something they meant privately.
Who is watching it
Someone on your team should be reading this daily. An unanswered request is worse than no prayer wall at all.
People will occasionally post something that needs a pastoral response the same day — a crisis, a bereavement, sometimes worse. Decide before you launch it who is responsible for reading it and what they do when that happens.A prayer wall is a pastoral surface, not a feature to switch on and forget.
A sentence from the front does most of the work: “This is for things you are happy for the church to see. If it is private, speak to one of us directly.”
If a request discloses something that triggers your safeguarding process, your process applies. Harvest does not flag, escalate or notify anyone — it is a place to post, not a monitoring system.
