# Glossary

> The words Harvest uses, and the distinctions that actually matter.

A few of these look interchangeable and are not. Where a distinction has consequences, it is spelled out.

## People

**Contact** — a record your church created. A visitor who filled in a card, a donor, someone you are following up. A contact has no login.

**Member** — someone who made their own Harvest account at your church's address. They open the member app.

<Warning>
  A person can be both, and Harvest counts them once. But the link is **the email address** — a contact with no email can never be matched to a member, which is why gifts recorded against them are invisible to that person.
</Warning>

**Donor** — not a separate record. A contact or member with recorded giving against them. It is a filter, not a type.

**Admin** — a member you have given some management access to. Admin seats are limited by plan.

**Owner** — the person who created the church. Cannot be removed, always has full access.

## Places

**Your address** — `yourchurch.theharvest.app`. Members must sign up here, not on the main Harvest site.

**Campus** — a separate physical location of your church. Every plan includes one; more are an add-on.

<Note>
  Two services on a Sunday in the same building are **two services, one campus**. Campuses are for separate locations.
</Note>

**Group** — a smaller room inside your church. A home group, a youth team, a leadership cohort. Ministry plan.

## Collecting information

**Signup** — people putting their name down for something. A serving team, a trip, a small group. **Available on every plan.**

**Form** — a custom questionnaire with your own fields. A connect card, an application, a survey. **Ministry plan.**

<Tip>
  If you are on a lower plan and want a connect card, a signup usually does the job.
</Tip>

**Registration** — signing up for a specific event, with a ticket code. Ministry plan.

## Sunday

**Service** — a gathering you plan: the order of service and the volunteer rota. Does **not** need an event.

**Event** — something you advertise and take registrations for. A conference, a crusade.

**Rota** — who is serving in which role, across weeks.

**Order of service** — the run sheet. Items with lengths, so moving one shifts the clock times after it.

**Check-in** — recording who actually turned up on the day.

## Money

**Payment link** — your own PayPal, Revolut, Wise, Venmo, Cash App or Zelle. Harvest points people at it and never handles the money.

**Recording a gift** — entering a donation that arrived in your own account. **Nothing in Harvest counts until this happens.**

**Invoice** — created automatically when you record a gift. This is what accounting and giving statements read.

**Campaign** — a fundraising goal with a progress bar. Counts money **received**.

**Pledge campaign** — tracks money **promised**, and how much of it has arrived. The gap is the point. Ministry plan.

**Giving statement** — a member's yearly record of what they gave, built from recorded gifts matched to their email.

**Reference code** — the short code an attendee puts in a payment note so you can match their payment to their ticket.

## Plans

**Forever Free** — for an evangelist discipling one person at a time. Courses and signups.

**Plus, Pro, Ministry** — the paid tiers. See [Plans and limits](/getting-started/plans-and-billing).

**Add-on** — something you buy on top of a plan: contact packs, admin seats, campuses, or Ask Harvest.

**Trial** — 14 days on any paid plan. Free is not a trial; it does not expire.

## Content

**Course** — discipleship material people work through at their own pace. Yours, or adopted from the Harvest library.

**Adopted course** — a library course you added. Counts towards your course limit like your own.

**Blog** — published articles, keepable and shareable.

**Community feed** — the week's notices, photos and polls.

**Note** — your team's internal writing. Can be shared with admins, published to the web, sent to the livestream, or turned into a blog draft.
